Whatever comes along has to be able to do something.
When you’re on the road, it quickly becomes clear which items are truly useful. Often, it’s the unassuming little helpers that have earned their place in the camper van. Our dish brush with a replaceable brush head is definitely one of them. It fits comfortably in your hand, cleans dishes reliably, and lasts for many years—because when needed, you simply replace the brush head. You can choose the bristle type depending on the task: horsehair for extra-gentle cleaning or fiber (a plant-based fiber) when a little more scrubbing power is needed. To go with it, a long-lasting dish soap makes washing dishes a breeze during everyday camping life. Simply run the damp dish brush directly over the soap until lather forms—grease and dirt are reliably removed. Completely plastic-free.
The storm clothespins reliably hold towels and laundry on the line even when the wind picks up. The stain remover pen is small enough to fit in any luggage and comes in handy when you’re on the go and there isn’t a washing machine nearby.
A Redecker wooden hairbrush is also a must-have for us—an everyday companion made from natural materials, sturdy, and built to last for many years. And since being outdoors usually means bringing dirt inside, two shoe-care specialists are essential: The shoe sole brush removes dirt and small stones from the tread of our hiking boots while on the go, and the hiking shoe brush takes care of a thorough cleaning of our footwear after a long day outdoors.

Do I really need this? And if so, how should it be made so that I can use it for a long time?
Less stuff. More function.For us, this isn’t just a slogan we came up with for a campaign. It describes pretty much exactly how products have always been created at Redecker. We don’t want to invent something just to bring another product into the world. A good product has to solve a problem, make a task easier or more enjoyable. It should feel good in the hand, be thoughtfully designed, and be made of materials suited to its purpose. And we believe it should look good, too. Because for us, function and design aren’t opposites. On the contrary. When form, material, and purpose come together, something that’s a joy to use often emerges all on its own.
You notice this especially in the confined space of a van. Everything you bring along is visible, touched, and used. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why wood, natural fibers, and well-made everyday objects feel so natural here.
Sustainability also means what’s allowed to stay.
For us, therefore, sustainability doesn’t end with the question of a specific material. Natural and, wherever possible, sustainable raw materials play a central role at Redecker—of course! But another question is at least as important:
How long will I use this product?
A product that works reliably and is easy to maintain—and can even be repaired if necessary—will still be gladly used even after many years and won’t need to be constantly replaced. For us, durability is therefore a very concrete form of sustainability. This applies just as much at home as it does on the go. Perhaps this idea becomes particularly clear when traveling. You need less than you think. But what little you have should be of good quality and reliably fulfill its function.
And then we’re off!
The door closes. The hiking boots are ready to go. Maybe there’s still a bit of sand from the last stop on the floor. Somewhere, a towel is drying on the line, and later we’ll cook outside. Not everything is perfectly organized. It doesn’t have to be. But the things we have with us work. And that’s exactly how we like it: Less stuff.
